Seniors To Watch: November 3rd, 2020

By: Kris Watkins

With the high school basketball season just around the corner I will be taking the time to spotlight some available seniors who college coaches need to make sure they take a look at.  If you feel you should be included feel free to reach out to me on twitter at @DrKrisWatkins.  We also encourage all players in the 2021 & 2022 class take advantage of our FREE Recruiting database (Click Here to Sign Up)

Mekhi Carter-Archer

A 3 Year starter at point guard on a team that helped his team reach the second round of the State Tournament last year.  He will be asked to step into an even bigger role this season after the Tigers lost 4 seniors who went on to play at the collegiate level from last year’s team and he is more than ready to help lead one of GA’s top programs, especially on the defensive end.  Carter has proven over the last few seasons he not only gets it down on the court but also in the classroom holding a 4.0+ GPA.  He is a highly efficient shooter from 3 who doesn’t have wasted movement in his game off the dribble, he gets his defenders in the air and goes by them and gets into his midrange game or drops it off for his teammates.  Carter should see his recruitment grow early in his senior campaign as Archer always plays a tough schedule in a number of high quality showcases.

Wyatt Fricks-Winder Barrow

You watch Fricks and you recognize he is far from a finished product physically speaking as he has plenty of room to add on weight to his frame once he gets to college which makes him one of GA’s most intriguing prospects.  Standing at 6’9 with good athleticism and length and range to 3 is what immediately makes him stand out, but then you watch and see he can put the ball on the floor and has a high motor is why I am so high on his game moving forward at the collegiate level.

Devin McGlockton-South Forsyth

McGlockton is a two sport athlete who is an All State prospect in Basketball and Football.  His improved shot makes him an ideal stretch 4 and his shot altering ability and rebounding will transcend to the collegiate level.  He holds numerous offers in both Basketball and Football and is going to have plenty of options moving forward in terms of what he wants to do at the next level.

More In depth coverage I wrote on McGlockton

Luka Avaliani-Walton

Standing at 6’3 the First Team All Region/All County prospect has been getting to the rim with ease since I first saw him at the Johns Creek Thanksgiving Shootout in November 2018.  He has a variety of floaters and spins he uses when he gets into the paint and is especially productive in ball screen situations where his patience and passing ability makes him so successful.  His size and length makes him a force on the defensive end of the floor as well.

Joseph Scott-Denmark

Scott had a great summer and he should be one of Forsyth County’s top prospects this season.  He has the type of explosiveness where he can and will catch someone at the rim and put them on a poster.  Now listed at 6’7 with great length he should be an easy double double prospect for a team at Denmark that has made two deep state tournament runs this season where he will step into a bigger role and continue to show his development just as he did throughout the summer.

(From March 2020)

6’6 Scott helped Denmark make a deep run for the 2nd consecutive year losing to eventual State Champion Woodward academy in the Final Four.  A strong finisher at the rim who can get out and make plays in transition. In the half court Scott is a knock down 3 pt shooter and can get to the rim with limited dribbles when he attacks.  Outside of just what Scott brings to the table as a player on the court what stands out just as much is him being an overall great teammate and his constant effort to get better. After avg 10ppg/7rpg as a Junior I expect Scott to really make some noise this summer heading into his Senior Campaign

Top Games include: 18p/5r vs Buford, 17p vs Flower Branch, 11p/10r vs Furtah Prep, 10p/11r vs Dawson, 17p/10r vs Lagrange, 11p/10r Upson Lee
