2019 #BCBMLK Recap

Editors Note:We will be adding highlights on multiple players over the weekend, we added highlights of the players from previous events we covered or our own exposure events already.

January 22nd, 2019

The 7th Annual Blue Collar Basketball #BCBMLK showcase was as always a well organized/well attended event which should come to no surprise because  BCB Owner Sam Allen runs first class events and this year’s event was no different. Some of the day’s standouts are noted below:

Part 1

2019 Joshua Guilford (Heritage)-The available guard came out on fire to start the game scoring 21 pts with 5 3’s in the first half.  He has a quick release with range. Although he plays off the ball sometimes in HS due to his scoring ability he projects to be a college level PG and he has the ball on a string and can dribble through traffic and create his own shot off the bounce.

2019 Donaven Hairston (Milton) The available Senior guard was all over the place in transition with multiple finishes with either hand.  In the half court he proved to be a consistent 3pt shooter knocking down 2 on the day. What really stood out besides his scoring ability was his ability to distribute the ball, numerous times he threaded the defense with passes from the perimeter to wide open teammates at the rim. As a defender he has the ability to disrupt the opposing ball handlers with his quick hands creating deflections/steals.

2019 Tre Clark (Newton) may be my favorite player in Georgia this year.  Simply put he is  a PROBLEM. I think we are going to look back in 2 years and have people talking about him as one of the biggest steals.  We have seen the same thing in Sophomore guard Bubba Parham at VMI and Freshman guard Adam Flagler Presbyterian. With the VCU coaching staff on hand watching Clark controlled the game finishing with 26pts,11ast,8stls,4reb shooting the ball with a great deal of confidence and made the 4th quarter look like his own personal dunk contest.

2019 Blake McIntyre (Lakeview Academy)- He came out as aggressive as I have ever seen him hitting shots from 3 an facilitated and ran the team.  One of his top plays of the day was when he drove the length of the floor through the defense in transition and scored an and 1 at the rim. He finished with 15pts/6reb/5ast on the day.  His aggressiveness from this game carried over to the next night when he went for 33pts (7 3’s made) at Towns County.

2019 Richard Rivers (Peachtree Ridge)-The Available 6’11 big came out early showing his soft touch hitting a 3 and other spot of jump shot.  He showed his ability to score at the rim with his jumphook. You can not teach his size and touch he will continue getting better and his best basketball will be at the collegiate level as he continues to develop.

2019 Jordan Yates (Milton) The Georgia Tech football signee led his team to a State Championship on the gridiron and stepped right onto the basketball court without missing a beat.  Really helped the team break away in the first half. Made multiple plays around the rim throughout the game and was a force on transition and on defensive end

2019 Niles Mcadoo (Creekside) Did not see a shot from 3 he did not like. He hit 6 3’s on the day and finished with 21pts.  What I really liked about his showing is his willingness to put it on the floor when he was crowded from 3 and attack the rim which he did throughout the game.

2019 Adam Cotrell (Lakeview Academy) Took over in the second half scoring 10pts in the 3rd quarter 2 attacks to the rim and 2 3’s. Finished with 19pts/8reb/3ast on the day. Cotrell has a great frame that he uses when he attacks the rim off the dribble and is able to score through contact.

2022 Bruce Thornton (Milton) The freshman guard consistently used his upper body strength to get into the paint. Though short in stature at this point, strength makes him hard to guard off the bounce.  This was my first time seeing him this year, I can see why others are so high on his game, he has a chance to be something special.

2020 Christian Williams (Peachtree Ridge)-SHOOTER left with deeeeeeep range. Has ability to play either guard position effectively.  He hit 6 3’s on the day, which was no surprise to us after his shooting performance at our #SHReportElite150 in October. What I really like the most about hsi game is that he lets the game come to him and does not force his shots and seems to always make the right decision when the ball is in his hands.

2019 Armani Harris (Newton)-The available 6’7 forward dominated the game from start to finish and is one of the most consistent inside/outside players in the state.  He came out big in the first half with multiple strong finishes at the rim. He has great hands and finishes through contact at the rim and has great footwork in the paint.  He has the ability to stretch the defense on the perimeter that is going to make him a problem at the collegiate level once he adds on more weight and strength with a college program.  Difficult to understand why he is still on the board, but he immediately picked up an offer from Loyola (MD) who was in the building to watch him play and expect for his offers to grow.

2019 Brian “BJ” Knight (Peachtree Ridge)-Great athlete with length and a college ready body. Crashes offensive glass and keeps possessions alive. Can put it on the floor and attack the rim from wing/high post. He is a match-up problem because he is stronger than other wings and quicker than opposing 4 men.  He looked good shooting the ball from 3 and what I really liked the most is how he was a leader on the floor always directing traffics, ensuring team had correct match-ups on defense.
