Player Spotlight: 2019 Devin Evans (Duluth HS)

By: Kris Watkins

6’8 Devin Evans at Duluth High School is a player in the 2019 class that a number of colleges have on their radar heading into his senior season.  Evans comes to Duluth this year after moving in from Richard Hardy Memorial School in Tennessee where he averaged 22 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block last season.  Needless to say Evans is a stat sheet filler.  I had the chance to watch Evans recently in back to back weekends at the On the Radar Super 64 and the SEBA Showcase and his versatility was on full display.  Offensively Evans can score in a variety of ways including strong finishes in transition, making plays in the half court in catch and shoot situations in the midrange, attacking the rim off the bounce and scoring off offensive rebounds put backs.  On the defensive end of the floor Evans is a force around the rim using his length to alter shots and secure defensive rebounds.

Evans currently holds an offer from USC Upstate and interest from many schools like Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Alabama A&M, Nichols State, Tulane, Houston, East Tennessee State among others.
