Player Spotlight: 2020 Jack Kostel (Mill Creek)

2020 6’2 Jack Kostel of Mill Creek High School is a point guard that has the total package both on the court and in the classroom. He is a high level distributor on the offensive end and seems to always make the right pass putting his teammates in great positions to score and can also do so so with flare on his passes. He has a great handle and a variety of change of pace moves/in&outs and crossovers that help him get by his defender to get into the paint to finish at the rim attacking either direction/finishing with either hand or dropping it off to his teammates for an easy finish or a kick out to teammates spotted up at 3. Kostel is a elite shooter from 3 in spot up situations, and will definitely make defenders pay if they go under ball screens. Kostel will be a big part of a very talented Mill Creek team that we expect to be one of the best teams in 7A this season (Click here to read about the whole Mill Creek team). Off the court Kostel holds a 3.8GPA. Kostel is currently hearing from a number of schools including Appalachian State, Wofford, American University, Alabama Huntsville, and Georgia College and State University.

Mill Creek Head Coach David Allen on Kostel
In watching Jack as an 8th grader at Osborne Middle School in my first season at Mill Creek we knew there was something special about him. As a player he has a very high basketball IQ and exceptional instincts which allows him to put himself in great position on the floor at all times. When you couple those traits with his ability to shoot the basketball you have one heck of a player. We are looking for him to take on more of a leadership role going into his junior year and we have seen evidence of this through his work ethic this offseason. As a student he carries a 3.8 GPA which demonstrates his demeanor in the classroom. Coaches and a teammates want their PG to be a person you can trust and depend on in any situation. Jack is working very hard to be that guy and is definitely headed in the right direction.
