Seniors to Watch: November 2, 2020

By: Kris Watkins

With the high school basketball season just around the corner I will be taking the time to spotlight some available seniors who college coaches need to make sure they take a look at.  If you feel you should be included feel free to reach out to me on twitter at @DrKrisWatkins.  We also encourage all players in the 2021 & 2022 class take advantage of our FREE Recruiting database (Click Here to Sign Up)

Jake Craft-Dawson County

One of GA’s top shooters with a quick release.  He has developed his game over the last 2 years and has really worked on putting the ball on the floor when crowded at 3 and showed it playing with the ATL Wolfpack this summer.  He should have a standout senior season playing for new Dawson Head Coach, Todd Cottrell.

AJ White-Chattahoochee

Coming off a State Championship and arguably Georgia’s top available guard, White has proven he is a winner and deserving of any recognition he receives.  He is a floor general who when the ball is in his hands you will not find anyone better at creating his own shot (avg 25+ppg last year) while also getting other involved.  White’s game is in that of a similar mold to former Berkmar point Guard Yonel Brown who was a 1000+ career scorer at Kennesaw State, although it should be noted that White is a better scorer at this point in his development than Brown was at the same time which just goes to show you what time of career White can have once he gets to college.

Kyle Duncan-Centennial

6’5 Kyle Duncan’s progress and improvement is as noticeable as anyone in the state’s during the same time.  Coming off a junior season in which he was named 2nd Team All Region after 13.8ppg/ 8.8rpg/ 4.4apg/ 2.2spg/1.2bpg he rode that confidence throughout the summer playing with Hype Hawks.  His improvement in his jump shot has really opened up his game and paired with his ability to attack the paint, rebound from the guard position, and unselfishness as a distributor he should be one of the sleepers college coaches are making sure they track this season.

Deandre Smart-New Hampstead

One of the younger prospects in the 2021 class whose broad shoulders when he attacks the rim makes defenders bounce off him.  Does an outstanding job on both the offensive and defensive glass and standing at 6’6 he gets out and finishes in transition and through contact at the rim.

Najhae Colon-Kell

Colon continued to prove throughout the summer his ability to be able to perform at the collegiate level wreaking havoc on opposing point guards each time he steps on the floor.  He will be a leader on one of GA’s top teams at Kell High School.

(From March 2020)

Colon is one of GA’s best on ball defenders who has the ability to get under your opposing ball handler’s skin night in and night out. From his sophomore to his junior year he really made himself into a complete player and not only one of GA’s best defenders but one of GA’s best outside shooters with multiple games where he lit it up from 3 having a season high 8 3’s made performance vs Marietta early in the season.  His improved shooting from 3 has helped open up his overall game as he is able to put it on the floor when crowded at 3 and get into the paint to create for others.
